Maycie Meyer is the Director of Bands at Friendswood High School. Before her current position, Ms. Meyer was Assistant Director and Director of the Marching Band at Friendswood. Ms. Meyer has worked with numerous programs across the state and in the Houston area over the past several years as a clinician, adjudicator, leadership workshop facilitator, lesson teacher, and technician. In 2016 she served as the Head Drum Major of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps and at The Woodlands High School was a member of the 2013 Bands of America Grand Nationals Champion marching band.
During her time at Friendswood, the band has been a Bands of America Katy Regional finalist for the first time since 2009, Bands of America 3A class champions, Bands of America North Houston finalist with the highest placement in program history, 3-time UIL Area E Marching Contest Champions and 2-time finalist at the 5A UIL State Marching Band Contest. The concert bands during her time have consistently received superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight Reading. In 2023 the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Brett Nelson, was a top 3 finalist in the 2023 TMEA Honor Band Competition.
As a graduate of the University of Houston, she spent her time as the principal trumpet player of the University of Houston Wind Ensemble under the Direction of Mr. David Bertman. She studied trumpet with Mark Hughes of the Houston Symphony and in 2018, she was a featured soloist at the Southwestern Division Conference of the College Band Director’s National Association. She is currently pursuing a Master's in Music Education at Texas Tech University. Ms. Meyer is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association.
