Mr. Garrett Harrison

Assistant Band Director

Garrett Harrison serves as an Assistant Band Director at Friendswood High School after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Houston in 2025. A student at the Moores School of Music, Mr. Harrison studied French horn with Mr. Gavin Reed and received focused instruction in band pedagogy, rehearsal techniques, and conducting from Mr. David Bertman, Dr. Cameron Kubos, Ms. Priscilla Bell, and Dr. Cory Meals. He is currently completing his student teaching with Mr. Aaron Brown of Glenda Dawson High School and Mr. Chris Bennett of Berry Miller Junior High.

During his time at the Moores School, Mr. Harrison was actively involved in a variety of performance and educational ensembles. He performed with the Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band, and for his final two years at the university, he was a member of the renowned UH Wind Ensemble under the direction of Mr. David Bertman. While in the Wind Ensemble, he had the privilege to be a part of their 2025 TMEA Convention performance. He was also a marching member of the Spirit of Houston for three years, where he later served as a staff member on the visual team during his final year.

As a marching performer, Mr. Harrison marched 4 summers with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and is an active promoter of the marching arts. He grew up in the Houston area and has worked with several local band programs as a marching technician and a lessons teacher. Most recently, he worked with the Friendswood Band as a marching technician in the Fall of 2024 and is excited to continue working with the program in a new role and join the community in Friendswood!
