Baylor Herrera is currently entering his third year of teaching, and couldn’t be more excited to join the team at Friendswood High School.
Mr. Herrera completed his bachelor's degree in music education at the University of Houston, graduating summa cum laude , and serving as the banner bearer for having the highest GPA in his class, in May 2022. Throughout his time at the Moores School of Music, Mr. Herrera studied trombone under the instruction of Mr. Brian Kauk. At the University of Houston, he was a member of numerous performing ensembles, which include: the Spirit of Houston Marching Band, Cougar Brass Symphonic Winds, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Orchestra. Mr. Herrera had the honor of serving as Drum Major in his final year as a member of The Spirit of Houston.
Prior to his time at Friendswood, Mr. Herrera served as the assistant director of bands at Pearland Junior High East, in Pearland ISD. A proud product of the Texas public education system, Mr. Herrera attributes his passion for teaching to his parents who have combined have more than 65 years of teaching experience.
Mr. Herrera is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and International Trombone Association.
